Hello! Bonjour! Selamat! Sawadee-ka!
My name is Shazeera Ahmad Zawawi. I am a Malaysian, currently living in Switzerland. I have been drawing as a visual artist since 2013, covering different types of work such as comics, cartoons, book covers and illustration, sketch notes as well as recently, hand-drawn data visualisation. I had an amazing experience collaborating and producing artwork for non-profit organisations in Thailand, Malaysia, and Switzerland such as Amnesty International, International Commission of Jurists, Child Rights Connect, Cross-cultural Foundation, Asian Human Rights Center, and Association for Prevention of Torture (APT). Sometimes, I also produce artwork for national and regional institutions such as the National Human Rights Commission of Malaysia (SUHAKAM), the National Preventive Mechanism of the United Kingdom, and the Organisation for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE).
During the pandemic, I had the opportunity to be part of several digital exhibitions including ASEAN's first ever cartoon exhibition, organised by Craftora.com, a Malaysian initiative spearheaded by Zunar, an award-winning political satirist. Recently, I collaborated with "Between the Lines", Malaysian digital news for their ARTiculation's segment as their "Artist of the Month" for August 2021.
I have had my work translated to French, Spanish, Malay, Mongolian, Ukrainian, Turkish, Kurdish, and proudly Jawi.
